Quest will not startup if connected to power

If I try to startup my Quest when connected to either the supplied charge cable/wall charger or an external battery pack all that happens is that the headset display shows the current battery level.

I unplug the power source and then it starts up fine.  After startup I can then connect the power source and the dashboard battery icon shows it is charging fine.

Not sure why this happens.  My Go does not do this.

I am sure you already are, but just in case be sure you are holding the button in for a long press until you see it start to power up.

Hi Don, ya I just tried this and after holding the power button for about 15 seconds it did finally powered on.  Normally (without external power) I just need to press and hold it for about 2 seconds.  Don't know why it takes so long when attached to external power.  Thanks for your help mate.  Cheers.

It's acting like a typical Android device.  If you have it plugged in, and just press the power button; all you get is the charge level.  If you wanted to power up a charging Android device; you got to hold down the power button.

Thanks guys.  I’m now finding it best to startup without my external battery pack plugged in.  Then plug it back in later.

Takes ~15 seconds of holding the power button down till the Oculus logo appears when my external battery is plugged in versus 2 second hold then release.

Aside; it would be nice if there was an option in the menu to do a shutdown and restart.

Yes, I believe it overcurrents.

The 15 seconds is a hard reset, not just a shut down. That is in the instance where you can't even get into a shutdown, let alone a menu to do so.

Ya, probably right about overcurrent with my external battery.  I guess I should not have bought expensive high rated 21w packs, lol!  One good thing with these packs is that they supply so much current they always more than keep up with my Quest.  So if I start off with 100% charge it stays there.  Even if I startup with 90% internal battery after about 30 minutes of gameplay its recharged to 100%.
