Second hand quests look a bit colour faded is this bad?

I just bought a new Quest from Oculus and mine is black all over and I have seen some on places like Ebay or Gumtree and they look faded or worse a bit red on the fabric part of the body so this makes me think they were used outside in the sun and if you are like me I didnt know the Quest is not meant to be used out in the sun, would using the Quest in the sun make the fabric body part lose colour? If this is true then that makes it easier to buy a second hand one because the faded ones could have screen damage from direct sun light.

I can’t say for sure about what effect the sun may or may not have on the fabric, but I’ve had my Quest since release and my fabric still looks like new. If the fabric is discolouring already, when the headset has only been out for a couple months then I think it’s a good indication it’s not been well cared for.

There are other things that could cause discolouration, such as excessive moisture or cleaning with chemicals. Or some other way that chemical is being transferred onto the fabric, perhaps face cleaning products and hands not being thoroughly rinsed etc.

Something else to consider, the Quest is a very dark grey. The seller is probably taking the photo with a mobile phone. The lighting and colour balance can come out very wrong for dark objects if they aren't careful, making it look brighter and faded out. My Quest looks crap through my Note 8 phone camera with default settings, compared to real life.

I really don't think the Sun did anything to the material...it would take a lot longer than a few times in the Sun to actually fade the material. If you're seeing differences in pictures on the web...maybe it's just the pictures(?), or...since it's Ebay...'maybe' it's a fake?
