I'm thinking about getting a gaming PC and I am wondering if I should get either Virtual Desktop or an Oculus Link cable for it. In terms of wifi I have a wireless dual band router that was installed by one of our ISP's. If that router isn't good enough, could I possibly Virtual Desktop working near flawlessly by buying a good usb wifi dongle and having it connect to the PC as a hotspot? Also what are the pros and cons of each?
I just got my Quest w/Link Cable yesterday and today I wired my PC into my 5Ghz router (fast cable 100mbps, ethernet connection to PC now). So now I'm ready to try both and see which one works best for me. I also have a Rift cv1 w/2x sensors and I'm not really sure how easy it is to switch back and forth. Guess I'll find out, lol!
I have been told that if you want to use the Quest wireless with Virtual Desktop your PC should be connected to your router via Ethernet, not wifi. So, if you do not have this maybe you should stick with cable?
