I know the quest id a good product but i'm really wandering if is ok for me to buy it, here is why.
First the only rift i missed was the dk1 (still looking for one just for collecting purpose)
I bought the DK2, ordered the cv1 on the second day, bought gear vr for my (at the time) galaxy s6, and got the rift s when it came out.
Now, knowing i have all those headsets, i'm looking at the quest.
My gf like vr but is not really into it, she like to watch "the landscapes" but since i prefere horror games or simulators her usual reaction with them is a laud scream of terror  or a fast run to the toilet...  o:)
my question to those who already have the quest, is it worth to buy it? or is it going to take dust on a shelf?
I like the idea of using it around or outside but i literally have no idea if i will do that, what has been your experience? did you started taking it out or did you ended up using it as a rift, only with lesser graphic  and no cables?

There will be no Quest Pro or Quest 2 in the near future. Quest released early 2019 and you normally have like 3-4+ years for a new version. And the second point is that with the link mode out a few months ago, why should they NOW push another version while the Quest is selling so good. They would make feel thousands of customer feel betrayed when suddenly pushing next iteration so quick.

Not really - the problem with Quest atm is the limited Link speed. A refresh that fixes that problem would be seen as a pro-version of/over Quest with higher spec numbers it would make sense. Actually that is not true either with the 3-4 thing - yet - as they are still new company in terms of - there hasn't been that many lines to confirm that is their refresh cycle as of yet. So far its between 3 years for the Rift S and CV1 for the same models in line - but 1-2 years for different branches (Quest, GO, PC). If the GO is next in line - then GO will turn out to be a Quest in most cases thus being cheaper. Also, I can tell you have little understanding on what "Quest-2-##" means:3

Remember there has been two leaks of a new headset coming and new controllers. GO is to get what Quest has right now. Then there was talks last year about a Quest-Pro that fix a number of other issues and offer more specs with higher end hardware. So while some may feel " betrayed" that is life for the most part. It really depends on when you buy and plan for things. I mean - should phone people feel " betrayed" just after buying a iphone 10 knowing sometime next year there will be an iphone 11? That just silly. What about the poeple that buy bread knowing next week there will be fresh bread? That just a silly argument people like to make because they don't want to feel like they spent money for no reason.

This is why time tables and being smart comes into play. This is why you have to say "depending on when you are buying this" if OP will wait a few months anyways - then they should know if there is a new headset or not by then. If they are getting one right now - then they should be fine as there will be enough time in between to get the most value of your hardware.

Well ... its pointless. You don't understand why the waiting game makes no sense at all.
