Unable to create avatar

Hi, I just received my Oculus Quest and I have been trying to setup my avatar in the headset but I'm unable to do so. When I go to settings, people, profile, and select edit avatar, I show up in a large room but with no ability to create my avatar. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? Any advise or workarounds would be appreciated.

This is a widespread server issue. Support unfortunately has not admitted to it and just pointed me at the troubleshooting articles. 

You can browse this forum, and see several reddit posts from today/yesterday. Oculus is having an outage for the Quest services.

Having the same issue with new Quest.  Empty room and no way to create avatar.  I sent a support request also.

Oculus support acknowledged the issue and it has now been resolved. I am able to create my avatar.
