Using Quest as a research tool (including outdoors)

I am looking for advice on whether the Quest is viable as a tool to use in external environments for behavioural research purposes.  I currently have an old Rift and do some basic development on this, with the aim to develop scenarios for use in experimental psychology-related scenarios.  The Quest would be an obvious choice to move to as I want to be able to place people in situations that would allow for being outside and in places where I do not have a PC or constrained environment. So first question: what is the viability of using Quest outdoors? Second question: as my 2017 Razer laptop supports Rift (but not more recent hardware) with HDMI and USB ports only, can I use Quest with this set up to continue to develop applications and upload onto Quest?

I've read that using outdoors is discouraged. Especially in direct sunlight, apparently the cameras or lenses can be damaged.

yes I saw that, guess it could be mitigated maybe with some kind of covering - eg. in a large tent? or on dull days or low light conditions...
