Watch SBS 180 on Big Screen not working

wayneout

I just bought an Oculus Quest 2. After some trouble I was able to get my SBS videos transfer to my headset.
However nothing plays them as VR. They are titled Vegas.mp4 and hotel.mp4.   I downloaded Big Screen and used their video player but it just shows them side by side just like windows media player.  Someone suggested using Gallery on the headset but it says it is not supported anymore. Should I rename these files or is there a way to

tell the Quest 2 that they are VR?   Thanks.

you need a proper VR Player like DeoVR, PlayaVR (free) or Skybox

I do have DeoVR and it is doing the same thing as Big Screen.  I would rather not pay for Skybox until I

know that it works.

If you mean you want to play standard 3D-SBS as VR-180 you are at a loss.

afaik there is no player in the market capable of doing this.

No that is not what I am trying to do.  I have two SBS 180 files that I didn't list. (I couldn't remember their

name, demo for a game)  It is doing the same thing.  I have put all four files on my PS4 VR and they play

perfect. (Instead of getting two side by side videos, I get one video in VR)  One person told me that I had to

change the file name.  You had to do this with the GearVR so it would know that it was a VR video.  I will have

to see if I can find some of these old files.  Big Screen and DeoVR are not recognizing them as VR videos and

playing them like a regular video. I am going to try and find a desktop VR player (free) and see what happens.

all players (DeoVR, PlayaVR, Skybox) have the feature to select the format if they don't recognize it by themselves.

in DeoVR you start the movie

then click on your trigger and the player-menu pops up

on the lower edge you see two rectangular buttons

click the left one and select SBS / OU / Mono

then click the right one and select 180/360 or whatever your video is.

In the other mentioned players this feature is implemented as well, just the menus looking different 🙂

Edit:

Just found another way:

rename your videos and include "_LR_180" in the filename.

then they should be automaticlly recognized as VR 180 and played as such.

So in your case this would be Vegas_LR_180.mp4 and hotel_LR_180.mp4 respectively.

Thanks for help. The first method worked great. From now on I will use the second method of naming

the files as you suggested.  Thanks for everything.
