Will I be able to return my Oculus Quest to be replaced with the Oculus Quest 2?

I heard that Oculus is coming out with an improved Oculus Quest 2, and I was wondering if I were to buy an Oculus Quest now, would I be able to trade it in for the newer version, or would I have to either stick with the original or get a second headset just to have the first one stuck in my closet? What did they do with the Oculus Rift to the Rift S?

No, I don't think so there is no current trade-in system. So you might just have to purchase the OQ2. the del mar might not even be a new quest. It could just be a new headset. It might just be a joke.

I can't think of any company that does a direct trade-in with Hardware like that. Not even Apple.

At best there could, perhaps, be a rebate situation. But I doubt it. You could just sell your original Quest on E-Bay to get some money back. I have Quest, GO, and the original Rift. I'll definitely be getting Quest 2, while also keeping original Quest as a fun extra.

It’s definitely been confirmed, it’ll be lighter, smaller, run on 90-120 hertz, and have a higher refresh rate. Oculus has announced themselves that they are working on a predecessor for the Quest.

I've only seen strong rumors, but not an official confirmation by either Facebook nor Oculus. Maybe I missed it?

This is from last week:

No confirmation there, and the rumor is that Facebook hasn't even settled on a final design. We might not see this until 2021 at the earliest.
