Here is what I did to fix the Quest as it was stuck in a updating loop. The headset was stuck at 0% while looking through headset, and my cell phone app was saying 50%. This is what I did to break the cycle...
1.headset was charged to 100%! Not 98, not 99, but 100%, and I remained plugged in.
2. I did factory reset on headset after powering on with power switch and volume switch to get to a special menu. I picked factory reset and hit the power button to initiate/select it. I was logged into App on cellphone ( I have a Samsung Galaxy 10) and my headset was showing as connected.
2. I turned on mobile Hotspot on cell phone, and when the internet setup came across the headset, I added the hotspot internet and did NOT use my house internet.
3. The headset went from 0% to 1% and I jumped for joy, it took 5 minutes to go to 100%, and then rebooted and subsequently downloaded and Viola! We were back in business!
So the trick might be 100% and using same internet connection as your device is logged into Oculus.
I'm no wizard, but we had tried to get this device out of the update loop for days by trying all sorts of things on these forums, and this is what worked for us. I hope it helps someone. Stay safe and well Sir Danielle Fortessque
I've been trying to update for 3 days with no luck. I did what you suggested but it still isn't working. It was good to learn about the special menu from you, I didn't know that, thank you. I wonder if this is a ploy to get people to buy Quest 2. 🙂
