Because it’s much more convenient to be able to swap and go, especially with rechargeable AA’s.  My Vive controllers have built in rechargeable and these can be a real pita imho.

It also means we don't need to worry about the battery wearing out over time, we can just swap it. Much cheaper than replacing a whole controller when its been recharged too many times.

I highly suggest these, once I get into a cycle i can always have 2 charging and 2 in the controllers

also never rly seen a controller have an issue with its lipoly burning out, they just dont stress it that much

Because controllers with built in battery packs SUCK!  You can replace them but it is a pain to do so.  It is a much superior way to just use standard swap out batteries.  If you want rechargeable.....then put rechargeable batteries in.  Simple as that.

And because you can swap the batteries, you don't have to remember to put the controllers on charge each time you've finished with them. Other manufacturers may have decided on rechargeable controllers because of higher power usage so if they'd used AAs they'd probably need multiple batteries making them a little too heavy. A single AA gives around 35 hours of play in a Touch.
