Could not load this Quill document

I've been working on a large Quill illustration for over 2 weeks, and now it just won't open - error message: Could not load this Quill document.

It has a Group/Folder full of reference images, which I've deleted and that's still not helped.

Can anyone try and open it, please? Also, is there a file size limit for projects?

Any help appreciated…

Unfortunately, in the file you posted, the quill.json is empty, so all the layers metadata for the file is lost.

Do you have an earlier version of your file? Did Quill crash at some point?

If so, you may be able to recover an auto-save, take a look in your C:/Users/yourwindowsusername/AppData/Local/Quill/crash_logs if you see numbered folders in there, look inside and see if you find an earlier copy of your file with a non-zero file size Quill.json.

You will need to have windows set to show hidden files and folders in order to see the AppData folder.

Thanks for looking into this Schevrel.

I've gone back to a previous build and changed/simplified what I'm doing. So far everything is behaving itself.

Is there a benchmark for file sizes? I've been loading the Gallery paintings and using them as benchmarks (ie number of strokes).

There is no hard limit, it all depends on your system memory and GPU memory.

Usually the frame rate will start dropping before anything else causes problems.

We've tested Quill drawings with over 500,000 strokes and they render, save and load fine (the qbin file is over 700 MB).
