FIXED: Quill does not start

Epoxian
Explorer
It takes a while, then I'm taken back to Home.

I have have a wrong configured Home/Documents Folder and had the same problem with Medium. I could fix Medium by changing an registry entry as described here: https://forums.oculus.com/community/discussion/45859/fixed-cant-get-medium-to-work-it-returns-to-oculus-home

Is there also a registry key for Quill?

This is what Windows event log shows:

Hi epxzz - can you follow the steps in https://forums.oculus.com/community/discussion/46058/how-to-get-technical-support and respond back to this thread?

Hi, thanks for the quick response!
It is still not running. Here is what I tried so far:
My GPU is a AMD Fury.
* I updated my driver already yesterday to fix this. No change.
* I noticed the folder in AppData was not there, so I created it.
* After an attempt to start Quill the folder contained "crash_log" and folders 0-871 - but they all are empty.
* I just did another driver update for today's ASW update on Fury (Radeon Software Version
16.12.1). No change.

Antivirus: Avira (turned off) and Windows Defender (turned off temporary), no change.
OS: Win 10 Enterprise.

I have no integrated GPU (Intel 5820K). 16GB Ram, 14GB free space on system drive.

For Medium I created a folder in "Documents". But my Documents folder is still wrong configured I think.

(I'm in holidays for a week now and can not respond until I'm back - but I hope it is already fixed by then 🙂 )

Just an update - we're thinking it might be related to your Documents folder misconfiguration. We're trying some things on our end to replicate your issue but it's proving difficult. Thanks for trying so many different things!

I'm curious if you're happen to have a monitor plugged into an onboard video card.....

Can you try disabling any GPU overlay/monitoring apps like MSI Afterburner?

i have a very similar issue that i'm just starting to try and diagnose.
Initially when I was using my DK2 I noticed that Oculus Video wouldn't launch, you click launch and it does nothing, tried for a while with drivers reebots uninstalls and such, but assumed it was a dk2 quirk and ignored it. when my CV1 arrived the issue persisted, but other apps worked fine so I ignored it. However now I can't get Quill to launch either, the same issue which is annoying, so I'll have a look through some logs and see if I can work out what's going on..

Update...

{!ERROR!} [LibraryItem]

Error [3221225781]
returned from library item oculus-oculus-video

{!ERROR!} [LibraryItem]

Error [3221225781]
returned from library item oculus-quill

Same error code so does look related....

I got it working by redirecting my Windows Picture, Documents and Movies folder (which were set to a USB-Harddrive that I had not mounted). This can be done in explorer by rightclicking the folders, Open Properties -> Path.

Thanks for posting your solution Epxzz. I'm going to create a "Known issues" post and add this to it.
