Got the min. card, Beast up to the very last stage, beginning the install of Oculus Rift's software and Bang! All "USB"'s are good to go except that HDMI connection. Sure enough I won't be seeing anything on this half baked HDMI port. It's Just Not up to par. Your jokin, right.
I mean, shouldn't there be some levels of grade pertaining to Hdmi ports. Which fail alot for clients. A req for xtra "Juice" is required for HMD'S. Or no? Seems like the one thing overlooked by buyers of systems. Perhaps a business specializing in ports that definitely pass.
What are you setting up on? If a laptop can you be sure that the HDMI port isn't connected to the on-board Intel chipset (or AMD if you have that) many of the 'gaming' laptop specs appear to put discrete graphics cards 2nd in priority to conserve power, if the gaming graphics are not connected directly to the HDMI port there will be issues with the rift.

I meant to add that (apparently) with some laptops you can set priority to the (usually) Nvidia GPU which may bring the Rift to life for you... I'm fortunate that my gaming laptop has the Intel on-board graphics disabled by the manufacturer so had no issues - although the previous one only switched to Nvidia when playing, that one doesn't work with the Rift (I gave it to my wife 🙂 )
Following instr. I disabled the dgpu while left the igpu enabled. Then plugged the Rift's HDMI into the hdmi on the card in the eGPU. Worked like a charm. On an old Asus which is regularly seen as difficult brand to get working.
