Hello, this will be my first ever question so I apologize in advance if it's already been asked. I'd like my parents to experience Google Earth VR. I think it'd would leave them breathless. Unfortunately, they're not able to manage the touch controllers. Is there a way for me to guide the tour for them while they wear the Rift? Is it possible with the Go or Quest?
I'm an elderly parent. This reminds me of when I was teaching my nearly 3yr old to use a mouse back in 1990. It's just a concept that needs to be practiced.
So, is the problem that they're in their 90's and have arthritic hands? Or is it just a learning thing? If it's just a learning thing, be patient, guide them calmly and they'll pick it up. Touch controllers are really quite intuitive.
Of course, you can hold the touch controllers while they use the headset, but it may add to motion sickness if you're moving them where they're not expecting to go. Also they will keep moving their head to look around and this will affect your control.
Just run the guided tour for them, the one that’s only about two minutes long and shows various places in the world, and then if they want to see more, they’ll be motivated to learn to touch controls, and if not, then you’ve given them their taste of VR Google earth. I’m sure they’ll be suitably impressed!
My folks are both over 80. Mom suffered a series of strokes earlier this year and a her cognitive abilities took a good hit. Her comprehension is low much of the time (weirdly, she suffered almost no physical effects. She gets around perfectly fine). Dad tried to learn but it was way above is ability to master. I was hoping for a way for me to guide them on my desktop while they just enjoyed the trip wearing the Rift.
