How much RAM in the 1050?  If not the 6GB version you may not even be able to run a Rift...
The 1050 is minimum spec, so even if you have enough GPU RAM you may not be impressed with performance.
PC info: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X - Sapphire 7900XTX - 32GB DDR4 4000 - 3 NVMe + 3SATA SSD - Quest 2 & 3

I have the 8GB version, I wanted to run the Rift S but if I can't, it's fine I will likely just get an Oculus Quest.

The 1050 Ti is actually minimum spec, not the 1050.
If I was going to experiment with Rift S, I'd at least put in a 1060.

You might be confusing your system ram with your GPU memory, I don't think an 8 GB version of the 1050 ever existed. I'm sure it only comes in 2GB or 3GB.

i5 6600k - GTX1060 - 8GB RAM - Rift CV1 + 3 Sensors - 1 minor problem
Dear Oculus, If it ain't broke, don't fix it, please.

why are there multiple threads on this?

Intel Core i5 7th Gen 7400 (3.00 GHz)
8 GB DDR4
1 TB 7200 rpm HDD
Windows 10 Home 64-bit
NVIDIA GTX 1050 2 GB GDDR5

this would NOT be a suitable pc for demanding VR games. a 4 core/ 4 thread cpu would be fully pegged all or most of the time in pretty much any demanding modern game. 8 gb is simply not enough for some games to run smoothly. a regular hard drive does not cut it anymore and you will have stutter. gtx 1050 is too slow for demanding games to maintain high fps and 2gb of vram would be a problem too.

I thought it was 3/6 GB, but am happy to be corrected.

Simply Google it if you do not know. I can save you the time though and tell you there is no 6gb version of the 1050. The pc that the OP has uses a 1050 2gb.

Thank you everyone for your time, I will be getting an Oculus Quest now that I know my PC is not going to work with VR ATM. Unfortunate that my PC is "VR ready" but not ready to run a VR yet. I'll look into upgrading my PC if I can do so.
