So I'll be receiving my Rift S early next week and I wanted some input and what game/app I should get
I mostly bought it because of Google Earth VR. I got that chance to try the 1st gen Rift about a year ago... I can't remember the games I played much. I mean it was cool and fun but once I got into Google Earth VR, I got BLOWN AWAY!
Here's a few questions Should I go with Steam or Oculus Store for games/apps or both? Any advantage at going 1 versus another? Any other sites or platform where I can get VR content that isn't available on either Oculus site or Steam worth having a look at? What are the free games/apps on either sites absolutely worth for a 1st time experience? I have quite the family around willing to try this thing as well... my parents in their 60s, my sister along with my nephew and niece, any recommendation of game/app to blow their mind away for a 1st experience?
Use both Steam and Oculus store. AFAIK those Oculus exclusives like Lone Echo, Stormland, Asgards Wrath etc are available only on Oculus store. Try Viveport Infinity. You get 1 month free trial with a lot of games to play. Cancel easily after that.
SteamVR works well, and you can get some really good deals buying steam keys from various sites. Oculus is slightly easier, and they do have sales from time to time, between the two performance wise I have not noticed any difference.
The first thing you should get everyone to play first is 'First Contact'. As for games, its so subjective youtube is your best bet. Watch the game play and reviews.
