Oculus rift S - installation issue - Sensor check

Hello guys,
I got the headset 2 days ago after 24 delivery days... and of course it doesn't work...

Issue:
After downloading and installing the oculus app,

the app asked me to connect the USB and Display port.
connecting the two, I always got USB 3.0 error.

After a thousands try, I got this step to work, by deleting the USB Rift drivers, unplug the cables and re-plug first the USB then the DP -> clicked on continue..all green!

of course next issue...

The sensors cannot be recognized or something with the motion sensor check failed (maybe since I deleted the USB rift drivers).

I noticed that manually unistalling the Usb Rift drivers through "device manger" solved the first issue but created the sencond one.

I tried re-installing the Usb rift drivers again while "sensor check error" from this folder:
C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-drivers

this will bring installation back to point 1 showing USB-3 error again...

I am stuck between these two steps...

I tried everything possible:
- unplug - replug the cables;
- disabled antivirus;
- allow camera/microphones;
- update motherboard usb drivers;
- install usb rift drivers while the Usb-3 plug is marked red;
- reistall/repair Oculuss app;
- update Windows updates;

help please!

If I do not get it to work for this week, I will just bring this thing back and finally get a Valve Index.

I think I'll do the same, it's all very stressful

"usb port"-drivers might work, but hard to know without any info about your computers. For some they come bundled with chipset drivers.

I downloaded yesterday USB drivers from the motherboard website (Asus rampage IV extreme)
Driver (Asmedia_USB3_V116351).

This unfortunately did not solve the issue.

I have attached the log file from the oculus app

You already said that you've unplugged the cables like stated on support.oculus.com troubleshooting tips, but did you actually unplug the connector from hmd's end... I mean there has been few cases where someone has said that "yes I checked that" but after 2-3 days they go "yes now I really unplugged it from hmd and when I put it back all the way in, everything works" 🙂

Also not all usb 3.x ports are the same, but you seem to have only 3.0 ports on your computer. It should be fine. I would recommend that you update also your motherboard chipset drivers from that same site. If still doesn't work, update also motherboard bios and then disable "Legacy USB Support" from that.

Here is link for your convenience.

Hello Sraura,

thanks a lot for your reply,

I did unplug the cable from the headset directly because the "oculus support" asked me to try so.
Unfortunately this did not work.

I have only 2 USB-3 ports which I can reach while being connected to the display port (the rest are USB-2).
Other USB-3 are in front/top of the computer case which makes it impossible for the cable to get there.

I did update the USB and Chipset drivers as you reccomended, this also doesnt seem to help.

The only thing still missing is updating Bios as you mention in your last sentence.

Oculus support did receive my log files and said it would take until 4 working days to get a reply.......

If I do not get this solved until Saturday, unfortuntely this headset must go back.

You could try disabling that legacy usb support from your current bios too... When that is disabled you're unable to use usb keyboard/mouse on dos like environment (maybe in windows safe mode), but it also may remove certain issues with usb ports.
Probably won't help, but as your issue seems to be usb related, personally I would at least try.
