Propblems with mini display port

I just got a Rift S and am trying to use it with my asus rog strix scar 1 laptop. My laptop meets the specs, and I use a 1050 ti gpu, but the software says My graphics card is not compatible. I can get the usb to connect, but the mini display port doesnt connect. It occasionally flashes as being connected, but not for long. After trying to connect for a minute, my screen starts to flash black every few seconds. Any advice on how to get this to work? My gpu drivers are up to date

Your laptop isn't VR Ready.  Which means that the displayport jack doesn't go to the 1050Ti, it goes to the Intel HD integrated GPU which isn't compatible with VR systems, any VR systems.

If you load up your nvidia control panel and pick the physix tab you'll see both GPUs.   Under the 1050Ti GPU, are there any jacks listed or just your screen?  If it doesn't show any jacks , or even if it does and it's an HDMI port, your laptop isn't compatible with a Rift.  But if you see a USBC port there, that means you must have a USBC port with DP Passthru and if you get a C>DP dongle, it just might work.
