Turning off Rift S

Hello all its August 25th I wondering if the problem of the Rift S and controllers staying on when you remove the headset has been resolved. The white light stays on. Some say this is normal but having the CV1 for a few years, it's not, if that were the case there would be no amber standby light. Going into services and stopping them or depending on OTT is not a good solution. Compared to the original it seems as though with the S  you have to go through too many steps just to use it then stop it. The CV1 just started and stopped automatically when you put it on or took it off. Seems like we're having to take a lot of compromises with the S  as standard use. Huge difference between the CV1(original development team) and Rift S (Facebook development team).

What?  Are you serious?  The Rift S is the newer headset and it's worse than the original in regards to turning off while not in use?!  Original Rift, you just took it off and set it down, that's all there was to it.  What exactly are you supposed to do with the Rift S?  Are you actually supposed to remove the seated connections for the headset from the back of the computer everytime?!

It still goes into standby, same as Rift CV1. They just changed up the lighting a little.
Now white reflects either on or in standby, orange reflects when Oculus Service has been stopped or device not connected ( but still has power).
CV1 white reflects when on, orange when in standby.

Ok, so nothing other than a color difference on that tiny light inside the HMD?  Why does anyone even care?

Correct.
Not sure why anyone would care, other than it is just a change in the way it was previously so throws them off a little.

This is understandable, but the controllers stay on and drain the batteries, are they suppose to go into standby as well?  I don't use the controllers for flight sims but got a message my brand new batteries were low. I now use a batch file to stop the service. The headset goes yellow and the controller lights go off, no further problems with batteries. That's the difference.

My controller lights turn off after a few minutes of non use.

Because the Rift S doesn't go to fully Standby as simple as that.
For example, when I use my Rift S with my Laptop the fans goes crazy at full power.
after I put my rift S beside, the fans goes back to normal after 1-2 minutes, but here and then they go again to full power. Only by pulling out the rift S USB cable/connection from my Laptop the fans stays on normal mode. For me, it's clear that the rifts is not fully on standby.

Another thing, that also many have noticed, here and on Reddit etc.. the battery life is draining too fast, even without the use of the controller and even if the lights are off.
like @gcompc me too, I often plays only Elite Dangerous with my HOTAS and I also get a message that my brand new batteries were low. I did the test by taking out the batteries after use, and they really last longer now even with a complete week of playing Beat Saber.
