I'm upgrading in the next few months from my Intel i7-4790 and Asus Z97-K motherboard and would love to find out who's got very few issues with their AMD builds. I'll be keeping the MSI GTX 1080 Ti I currently have. I have a lot of trouble with my Rift S but I love it to death and I know it works fine as I tested on another computer before with none of the same issues.
I'd prefer to go the AMD route.
So if you have very little trouble with your setup please take the time to list your CPU + Motherboard + GPU combination here, it will be much appreciated!
I'm running a Ryzen 7 2700x with a MSI mpg x570 gaming plus mb. 16 gig memory and a WD 1 tb ssd. I do have a EVGA 2070 gpu though. I have been playing Asguard's Wrath with little problems so far which seems to be a pretty demanding game.
As with conventional "pancake" gaming, VR doesn't always benefit from a high number of cores/threads, so make sure that whatever you replace your i7-4790 with clocks at 4GHz+ or you'll probably see no gain at all in many games.
