If you have encountered this bug, please opt-in to the v19 PTC to try out the latest updates and let us know if you’re seeing an improvement in controller tracking. Our team will continue to investigate and work on this - as always, thanks for your patience and understanding!

Update 7/6/2020:
Hey folks - Thanks to everyone who has reported bugs in our most recent software update. We are aware that this update has caused hand tracking to not work as intended for some Rift users. We appreciate your patience as we work on implementing a fix - more to come.

A quick note on the Link profile options that were previously not showing up: I'm told that this should be remedied and everyone should be able to see those at this point. If you're still not seeing them, please give your software a quick restart.

Thanks for the update. While I'm not affected by the controller issues, I'm glad to see this finally remedied.

Hello

I had the flickering problem and I can confirm it's fixed with the latest PTC update

While I'm glad it's finally solved I still can't comprehend how a bug that large was left untouched even after it was reported several times on the previous PTC thread

Im hoping this event will mark a new start on how things will be handled in the future , please do not ignore the feedback !

Thanks for reporting back your findings and hopefully this is the final solution for all those affected by this bug.

Also to piggy back off your comment, for those experiencing issues with the PTC builds, we need ppl to report their findings back to the community: either through the forums, the PTC Feedback Tool, or through support.  All too many times I've seen ppl have issues with PTC and run to 'report it to reddit' without alerting the appropriate channels. Point being, while you said this controller issue was reported in the v18 PTC thread, I've looked many times through that thread and there's no mention by anyone of the controller issue. Hopefully that doesn't mean ppl did experience the issue and forgot to report their findings.

Anyways, I'm glad it's fixed.

It's mentioned three times on page one (I didn't look any further).............
https://forums.oculusvr.com/community/discussion/89940/v18-ptc-pc-software-release-notes/p1

Also another 3 threads about it..................
July 1     https://forums.oculusvr.com/community/discussion/90918/rift-s-tracking-broken-since-v18

July 2     https://forums.oculusvr.com/community/discussion/90942/rift-s-controller-stuttering

By July 8, customers were manually rolling back to V17 and blocking updates (including store downloads) just to use their Rift.
https://forums.oculusvr.com/community/discussion/90940/rift-s-touch-controllers-flickering-again/

However, like you, I don't have this problem. My concern is that this happens too often, and Oculus just seem to keep rolling on with their updates.

My minor tracking issues seem to be resolved with 19.  I used my nightly boxvr session to test.  Did 30 mins on hard with v18 and noticed some tracking glitches here and there causing misses.  Upgraded to v19 and another 30 mins on hard same workout, zero misses tracking was perfect again.

So from my limited testing, to me things seem to be improved or at least as good as v17 was.

Most of those look like complaints regarding to STEAMVR tracking; which Oculus acknowledged and fixed with a v18 PTC revision. There were 2 tracking bugs with v18 (STEAMVR tracking, and poor controller tracking/flashing). Topics posted after July are irrelevant since v18 was already live in the stable branch (went live June 29th).

But I do walk back my position a bit. After looking again I do see ONE POSSIBLE person mentioning controller glitching w/ a video that looks like it fits the main v18 bug (but then again it might be the initial STEAM issue):

Since this update my Touch controllers are jumping around ingame, doesn't happen on the dashboard though .

I will say this about this particular issue. When saw some "one off"
reports, it was conflated with an earlier Rift S controller tracking
issue in SteamVR that we fixed in the same PTC timeline. This led to
mixed signals with QA. Call it a "perfect storm" if you will. After we
started seeing videos of the issues reported, then it became very
apparent that we were looking at a completely different issue. Getting
an internal repro of the issue wasn't trivial. Of all the folks testing,
we had only 2 repros (one in QA and one by myself) that helps us
address it. None of this is an excuse to releasing buggy software, but
something to consider for this particular situation. And thanks for your
patience!

So it sounds like a low amount of reports (of the second occurrence of the tracking bug), that they reasoned (erroneously) were part of the initial STEAMVR tracking glitch that they already fixed.

the rift s controllers are twitching and half of the people haven't even gotten the panel to change graphics quailty. I myself have gotten the new update but there is no panel for it.

You're joking right?

The NEW graphics settings is only for Quest.  The Rift S already has graphics settings; you can select Performance or Quality render mode.
