Demo - Music copyright issues (Covers)

I am considering the use of some music covers for a free demo I plan to release on share within the next three months.

Will there be any copyright issues with the original owners? The cover artist has agreed to me using the music. Also, will Oculus block the demo outright?

I could use the game ready original music but I prefer the cover for my demo.

Thanks!

Yes there will be copyright issues.
The song belongs to the original author/publisher regardless of who records it.
Sorry to put a dampener on your project.

for cover songs there is suppose to be a fee paid to the original maker of the song so if they paid that and there agreement with the copyright holder covered putting into games and anything like that you would be good but outside of that

Thanks for the replies.

Just wondering, how about music covers of songs not licensed in the US? I thought I remember some standard music cover fees (per play / download) but I'm not too clear on all that for games.

I guess I should stick with music I've paid royalty for, instead if taking a risk with covers since it's such a sticky issue.
