Whenever i get my dk2 i was wondering a regular steeling wheel like the "thrustmaster 458 italia" (90$) would be able to still give me that immersed effect in the game or do i really need the force feedback shifter clutch (G27) package to get the full effect?
(i would have picked the g27 originally but i have to figure out a way to sell a gamestop giftcard of 250$)
Actually, the Driving Force GT (DFGT ~150USD) Is a fantastic wheel with forcefeedback that rivals the G27 in detail, though not smoothness and strength.
It doesn't have the clutch and shifter setup, but it does have LOTS AND LOTS OF BUTTONS, which is fantastic for a VR setup, where you might not be able to easily look at the keyboard.
As a semi-hardcore sim-racer, I will recommend the DFGT all day every day. On my rig I actually run the DFGT wheel, with the G27 shifter and pedals. It's that good. (also, did I mention BUTTONS? SO MANY BUTTONS!!!!)
Force feedback is a must. The DFGT is probably the best bang for the buck wheel but the pedals are junk. The G27 comes with some pretty decent pedals for the price.
If you think you will really get into it buy a G27 or better, if it's just something you want to try and mess with every now and then try and find a used Logitech DFGT online somewhere.
You want force feedback. The problem ist you allways want more. I went from a Microsoft FF Wheel to a Logitech cheapo FF Wheel. Was close to upgrading to a G27 but knowing myself i took the plunge and got a fanatec clubsport BMW GT2 and Pedals. Sets you back for an absurd amount of money but damn it is a nice kit. I wish my car had such well made pedals.
Do you need this to be quick? - No. I am quicker but if you are not active in racing leagues it does not matter. Gripping that alcantara wheel with the medal shifter pedals and the all metal pedalset does immerse you that much more though and i don't even have my DK2 yet!
If a Clubsport is worth it to you or not i can't tell but i would go for nothing less then a G27 or the Thrustmaster 500.
driving force pro is crap....I have a t500rs but also have a full motion rig. G27 is gear driven, t500rs is belt. With belt its smoother, no gear noises, more power. I also have a quick release and full size rim and that kills a g27. DFGT is just a toy.
My 670 has been working fine with everything I've tried on the dk2. Your 770 should do really well. I think the only game I don't get a solid 75 in is elite dangerous. You also don't have to have a $600 wheel. Just get a Logitech g27 or cheaper dfgt. People who say the dfgt isn't good enough and is junk are people who go crazy with racing games. I've got a high end setup and the dfgt is good enough to race with and have fun. Some of the best iracing players in the world have used it in the past. If you've never had a force feedback steering wheel the dfgt will amaze you but the g27 does have much much much better pedals.
