Sabotage Rating on Oculus Share

Hi, yesterday some of us noticed some highly rated games suddenly plummet down the Top Rated list.

For example:

In the morning, Live for Speed S2 had 27 votes and a 4.8 rating.
By the evening, Live for Speed S2 had 34 votes and a 4.2 rating.

So I would suggest there are a lot of false votes between the 27th and 35th rating.

Some other highly rated experiences dropped significantly too. I'm pretty sure that VR Spacewalk was with LFS in the top two yesterday morning, also with 4.8 rating, but now has only 4.3 average.

It looks like someone is trying to boost the position of their favourite software by attacking others with false votes. Please could you take a look at this and see who dished out a load of minimum ratings yesterday?

Very interesting -- I've been watching my scores as well. Very recently, Titans of Space went from 4.7 up to 4.8 and now down to 4.6, which are pretty big sudden moves given the number of ratings that were already there.

I do notice that once demos become eligible for the Top Rated list, more people try them out and eventually the score drops as the entire audience of players give their opinions rather than the limited set of players that were passionate about the experience at its debut. That would have been my guess for VR Spacewalk, but I don't know.

I had suspected that Oculus is calibrating the score calculation logic to try to identify troublemakers and give their ratings less weight, but you might be right that something is wrong given the drop for LFS. Those last 7 ratings would have been an average of 1.88 each which doesn't make sense for LFS at all.

Hopefully someone can shed some light on that.

I think it's an interesting question, but I don't see any malicious intent right now. It could just be legit users with strong opinions. However, it's something we can look into if it becomes a bigger issue.

If your votes are going down Drash something's wrong! How dare anyone down vote my Drash lol, I will not tolerate this! VR needs Drash it's as simple as that! 😉

Hi scawen,

the first time when i put your game on the share i had the same reaction. There is sabotage on the voting. For demos not that deal but for comercial projects this is a killer. I think live for speed is still the best game on share.. I think somenone should look on the detail voting.

@scawen sorry for the post on oculus share.. but i thought you are quit with live for speed... so i had to do something 😉

i hope you will still do some development. i know how hard that is like a lazy developer as me 😄
