I want to address a troubling issue regarding the moderation in Meta Horizon. It seems that the community guides, who are supposed to ensure that the community remains safe and welcoming, are falling short of expectations.
While they are quick to greet players with a “hi” and then walk away " starts* CS-GO ADHD movement", their involvement rarely extends beyond providing very basic answers to questions. It’s clear that they are not individuals you can genuinely connect with or hang out with while gaming. They appear to be restricted to non-game worlds, and when it comes to more complex issues that require thoughtful engagement, they often make excuses or avoid addressing the matter.
I recently raised these concerns with one of the community guides, only to be removed from the world and faced with backlash from others in the lobby who supported the guide solely because of their Community Guide banner. This reaction highlights a deeper issue: the guides seem more interested in maintaining their status than actually contributing to a positive and safe experience.
When I brought up the issue, the guide suggested that I should report these individuals for inappropriate whatever. However, I'm not getting paid to do their job—I’m not a community guide; THEY ARE. It’s unreasonable to expect me to manage issues that they are being compensated to handle, especially when they aren’t fulfilling their responsibilities to ensure Meta Horizon remains safe
Additionally, there’s always a new world trending at the top each week that turns out to be a cesspool of problematic behavior, including inappropriate content and underage users. It’s troubling that these worlds remain virtually unchecked because community guides are apparently not allowed to go there or are unwilling to address issues even outside their active shifts. If the guides are unable or unwilling to address problems in such places, perhaps it’s time to reconsider their role or remove their logos if they aren’t effectively contributing to community safety.
It’s crucial that we have community guides who are genuinely invested in making Meta Horizon a better place, not just those who hold a title without meaningful involvement.
Note: an actual user of Quest products, I’d like to add that Air Link is quite disappointing. The goal should be to get SteamVR without bloatware for ovr tools..etc—Virtual Desktop wins in this regard. Whoever designed the all-white blinding Air Link room and annoying sci-fi music, which you can only turn off by going to your Windows mixer, needs to rethink their approach.
If you're a parent allowing your child to play vr, Don't. 16+ recommended soo not 13+
