Hello Rifters (thanks at Cymatic Bruce for this word 🙂 ),
cause i want to show my friends a great oculus feeling (they dont know what happend, cause they don't know, what they expect at rift)...i've tryed some stuff around...they should get out of the demo's and say "WTF WHAT'S HAPPENED"
Cause of this, i have only one chance to convince "nonrifters" to "rifted"....so i wanna show them best xp, that i can get out of my existing systems.
I've thought at first about that...i maybe visit my friends with laptop...my laptop got nvidea 555m...its not good, not bad, but it's ok....tryed some option's around...tryed to focus graphiccard, that card only rendering riftscreen, but result was not as good as i hoped (or course 1920x1200 i hate cube graphics)....so if your laptop got worser card then nvidea 555m, forget it...they maybe got sick at this maximum resolution....this would be the worst fail.
Now i would invite my friends to my home. My desktop got "nvidea N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II/OC"....to bf3 times a good card, but atm old. Tried to focus rendering with max resolution only at riftscreen (windows button +p) and now it looks like "WTF"...i've tested with "titans of space" here. Maybe nvidea 700 series would be greater.
But what do you think? How do you show your friends rift? Which card do you use for good performance of rift? do you rendering 2 screens or only rift screen? Which resolution do you prefer, and whats with sickness or immersion by using low graphicresolution?
As long as you are getting 60 fps you are going to get at least a interesting experience. You do not necessarily have to do a extravagant demo in order to awe people, a lot of people that are just shown Tuscany really get the concept.
I have seen some people introduced to something like Dear Esther in the cave scene and it really made a impression. I think the best thing is to test things out for yourself and see what really shows off the hardware.
If you want pretty reliable high frame-rate with decent graphics it seems to always be cheeper to go sli with video cards and have them work in tandem.
I am curious are you debating a full upgrade or just a graphics card upgrade?
i've showed my friends first tuscany...that they can accustom rift, after that, i've showed rollercoaster and at that point they loved rift. Mission completed 🙂
