Who would have thought that I - soon 8 years later - would still be using my Rift CV1, and even for modern games like Metro Awakening and Alien: Rogue Incursion 😎
Let's hope for many more great titles next year - no matter the hmd you use.
I hope you all will get a very happy 2025!

Ya, happy 2025 to you too mate! Glad to hear you're still enjoying your Rift cv1. I moved mine over to my 7yo Alienware 17r4 gaming laptop w/gtx1060 6Gb gpu and 32Gb 2400ram 2 years ago (after getting a new rtx4090 pc). Since upgrading my Q2 to a Q3 a year ago I've moved the Q2 and a spare powered Kuject link cable over to it and put the cv1 back in its box.
Now, with my 2yo i913900k/rtx4090 PC I just use my 2yo QPro with Link cable for all my sims, and my 1yo Q3 for everything else (standalone and wireless pcvr using Air Link). I still also have my 5yo Vive Pro1 but it really doesn't get much use anymore (too much SDE).
I think you might as well enjoy your cv1 while you can because your rtx3090 is the last high end gpu that will run a cv1. Mine ran great with my older i99900k/rtx3090 PC but wouldn't work properly with my rtx4090 setup. This apparently is a problem with all rtx4000 series gpu's because they don't support older hdmi tech based headsets. I imagine this will be the same with the upcoming rtx5000 series as well. So, keep that in mind if you decide to do a big PC upgrade in 2025. Of course you could always keep your current PC to run your cv1.
I'm planning to upgrade my PC to a new rtx5090 setup, probably later in 2025. I'll probably shift my rtx4090 PC to my home office and retire my aging 17r4 laptop (which cannot even be properly upgraded to win11). That plus I plan to buy a high end OLED headset, maybe the upcoming Pimax Dream Air. Looks like 2025 is going to be an expensive year, esp. since to keep my banker happy I've booked a cruise around Japan in Oct/2025. Heh, it's only money, lol!
