I was reading a blog ( http://protectionplus.ca/blog/how-to-secure-your-website-from-being-hacked/ ;) about it online and it mentioned installing a Web Application Firewall (WAF). Do you guys have that installed in your system? How good are they? I am using windows 10 and I don't like using windows defender. Could you guys recommend any good anti-virus software?

Hmm, I completely stopped using anti-virus software and it became better than before. so... I would suggest not to use it. But I can be wrong

You don't need a firewall or anti virus, just stay away from porn and warez and you'll be fine.  If you MUST access that, use Avast and a front end called "Windows 10 firewall control"

I'm pretty sure Facebook, and by extension the Oculus site, is well protected.

dimskies, if you are concerned about security, then this could be relevant for you. I have mentioned before that I stopped using antivirus, but now I am not sure if that is the right approach or not! I'd say just go with your instinct, you could always try out a few different programs. Let me know if I can help more.

I found Avast to be the best, low system resources and works well. Also, Malware-bytes can sometimes find stuff that Avast missed. They can both be run at the same time. I'd advise getting the paid version as they allow real-time monitoring (very key) rather than having to scan manually.

People telling you anti-virus is not needed are misguided, or don't actually realize what's happening behind the scenes on their computer. I've been hit with drive-by attacks visiting seemingly legit websites like ign.com, where a browser ad network was compromised, and tried connecting to some shady foreign servers. If you didn't have anti-virus, you would never have noticed this happened and who knows what those hackers are doing.

antivirus is like a virus magnet if you have it in your system virus will come to you, plus it is heavy that eat a lot of memory. I am confident with Microsoft system antivirus.

I dont run anti virus software.
I run scans every few weeks just to check if anything slipped through.
I usually dont find anything.
