1.3 SDK for 1.3 Runtime, or just 1.2 SDK?

Is there going to be a 1.3 SDK release to go along with the 1.3 Runtime, or will the 1.2 SDK be the SDK used with the 1.3 Runtime?

The 1.3 Runtime is already available for whitelisted developers. It will auto-update by itself if you are on the LIVE channel. And you definitely should be on LIVE as this is pretty much the Runtime that consumers will have at launch. The 1.2 SDK still works fine with the 1.3 Runtime, and I'm not sure what the timing is of a newer SDK. Hope that helps.

Just got this email about 1.3 SDK:

Oculus Rift 1.3 SDK

On
Monday we will be launching the Oculus Rift 1.3 SDK. This is the
version of the SDK you will need to build for in order to launch your
game or application. As you know, the pre-release versions of the Oculus
SDK (0.9, 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2) were provided under NDA and should not be
used to make a pre-1.3 SDK build available or for any other purposes.

The
new SDK will be available on our developer center, alongside updated
info on how to submit your game or application for consideration on the
Oculus platform. It also includes details on how to generate keys for
use in distributing your app on other stores. Oculus does not take a rev
share for copies sold using our keys.

We’re looking forward to seeing what you’re building and helping you ship great content for the Oculus Store & Platform!

It sounds like SDK 1.3 was just released.  Will we need the "generated keys" mentioned if we are distributing our app entirely separately from Oculus Home?

It's not clear whether we need to "submit your game or application for consideration on the Oculus platform" just to distribute directly to end-users.

Don't mean to point out the obvious. But that email is confusing.

Can someone from oculus read it word by word.. figure out what it's supposed to say, and translate it for us.

Do we need to update to the 1.3 SDK on Monday?

Thanks

As part of this new 1.3 SDK to be released on Monday, will there be another set of DLLs we can download to drop into our Unity install (in the <UnityInstall>\Editor\Data\VR\oculus folder) or will this require a Unity version update to make it work?

Ah wait. I think I get it now...
"The 30" have the 1.3 SDK already right? If that's the case... what is the point of keeping us in the dark?
Man.. I'm sorry, but all this cloak and dagger shit is starting to piss me off.

I have all these keys to give to backers now. Can I send them out over the weekend?
I assume this means that people who don't have a 1.3 build already won't be available on the store.

Really wish you guys would just come out and say what you mean and mean what you say.
I know you're putting out fires over there (like we all are).. but honestly.. wtf

side note.. the new forum style sucks. Looks like someone switched it to high contrast mode for grandma.
expecting to hear it quack when I hit submit.

Wait so are you saying people buying my app on Steam on Monday won't be able to use it with their Rift!?!?

After talking with Oculus, there is a new option in Home 1.3 to enable side-loading of apps (something along the lines of "allow unsupported apps"). It is unclear though if users get instructions on how to enable this. I think this is just horrible user-experience but I guess this will do for now...

Oh. That's good news!
Do we need to upgrade if they have keys for Oculus Home?
I just posted a seprate topic about that. Concerned my backers won't get to play also.
Sorry for the blank post.. it was a mistake and the new forums don't let users delete.
