SDK 1.2.1 - Remote not working

I've been having difficulty getting the remote working and wondered if anyone has had similar problems?

When installing the remote wouldn't respond so we skipped that part - in hindsight it was most likely the issue with the battery plastic thing not being properly removed which I've since sorted.

I think the problem is that the remote didn't get a firmware update, I went through PartnerFirmwarePack.zip and ran UpgradeSID.bat (I believe that's the right one for the remote?) I followed the instructions, and it went through the installation process as expected, when I restarted the service and opened the Oculus program it told me there was new firmware to install, so I let it run through that again (not sure what it was updating though...).

After all that, the remote still doesn't work 😞

I'm not at a bit of a loss, any suggestions? many thanks!

Did you go to Settings -> Devices -> Set Up a Device -> Remote?

It didn't work for me during initial setup either, but it worked fine from the Devices menu.

I gave this a try, it says "Remote found" and then "Pairing your remote with your headset", but then just brings up "Pairing failed..." with saying "There was a problem pairing your remote".

I've tried several times (I've got the sensor and the headset all nice and close together) but I can't progress.

Anything else I can try?

Can you try running "UpgradeSID.bat" and then "PairSID.bat" in the "SI_1.2_FINAL\PartnerFirmwarePack" folder?

You may have to stop the Oculus service first in services.msc.

Thanks Cyber, I gave that a try but the process fails to update device, it hits at least a couple of errors while updating:

!ERROR! [FW:NRF] RFUpdateRegion failed (error=2)

!ERROR! [FW:NRF] SessionStart failed (error=2)

Out of curiosity, holding down the buttons at the start - should the light be steady? the light on this one pulses in beats of 3.

You can also try rebooting the Remote into pairing mode.

You can do this by removing the battery, then holding down the Oculus logo button and the Select button (the one in the middle of the circle on the top) and keeping them held down while you replace the battery. Continue to keep the buttons held for 10 seconds. Then open the Oculus desktop app and try to pair the device under Settings -> Devices.

I have a similar issue with one of our remotes, where I can't get any lights on it at all. I have checked all the plastic has been removed, I even tried a known good battery from another setup; still no joy. Is there an RMA process for Engineering Samples please?

@karlwoolley Yes, we can replace defective Remotes. Usually you'd go through your Oculus dev rel contact via email, but feel free to PM me here and I can assist.
