BUG: ovr_GetRenderDesc always returns 'default' IPD (64mm) until slider is adjusted

I've just implemented support for live IPD adjustment.  Testing with CV1.

As suggested, I am calling ovr_GetRenderDesc every frame.  In all cases from the start, regardless of the the slider's position, the values returned indicate an IPD of 64mm (32mm each way).

When the slider is adjusted at some point, the reported offsets go to the true value.

I redid the full oculus setup procedure. The profiledb.json has been recreated. I checked it's contents, no ipd entry. I rebooted. I checked the server logs, no profile related problems I could see.
But ovr_GetRenderDesc still only returns 0.032 every frame until the slider in moved while running.

I can confirm this issue exists.

Same here.  Using the long hack found here helped me finally experience the same scale as my DK2 with wide IPD adjusters. (71mm guy)

@tomf : I confirm this bug still exists in version 1.4 of the software.  IPD is reported as 64mm when a program starts, regardless of the slider position, until the slider is moved at which point it reports the actual slider value.

@cybereality : This is an important bug because it causes everyone whose IPD is not 64mm to see the virtual world at the wrong scale.

Apologies if this is the wrong place, but I assume you guys are talking about the issue I noticed on my CV1!? 

I'm not a programmer or something, so I'm not really able to reproduce that long hack to fix it for myself..
With the world scale being so huge, the CV1 is rather underwhelming to me, coming from the DK2.

I don't know whether I'm one of the few consumer poeple who are noticing it, or if it is a rare bug caused by my setup.
Either way. I know it can be fixed by software, and I really don't want to sell my CV1 because of this.

The IPD reported by the Oculus software can easily be seen in Live for Speed, which you can download from www.lfs.net - to enter VR mode it's Options... View... 3D.  After you are in VR, you can see the IPD on the top right in View Options.  You can see that at first it will be 64mm, regardless of the slider position.  That is, until the slider is moved a fraction.  It's getting a bit boring reporting the same simple bug so many times.

@cybereality was away for a while, so that may be why he has not responded even though so many people have been confirming this bug in previous posts.

@tomf it seems would rather assume the bug doesn't really exist and that we are just a bunch of lunatics, so he doesn't have to spend a few minutes looking into it.

I'm also getting this problem, I was wondering why I kept getting headaches! Not only that but my headset only goes down to 59 but I have 58mm ipd...An option to override the slider would be great as well.

Hm,interessting...the lens slider does change the IPD for me. I can even see how it changes the scale a little bit, but it is too big regardless the setting. My IPD is 63.
edit²: I think understand what you mean...your're right, but that doesn't seem to be the issue I have...


Anyway, when I run the Oculus World Demo, the scale is completely messed up.
But there is this option: "position tracking scale" under "player".
Changing the value to 1450-1500 looks perfect for me. (have to adjust my hight manually afterwards)

Can you guys do the same thing and tell me how you percieve the scale in the Oculus World demo? 
That would be interessting to know.
