Link Not Working

Kaidenap

I am on the Meta Quest 2. Ever since v76.1021 installed on my headset on the 17th of April, link has not worked correctly. It started off by disconnecting every 10 minutes or so, and wouldn't reconnect until I restarted my PC, and now it won't even launch at all, it just loads when I click to start link. I have spent at least 10 hours over the past 3 days trying every little thing you could think of to fix this. Is there anybody else with this problem? Is there any type of fix in the works? This is very frustrating that I am forced to "upgrade" to this unfinished and broken version.

Hello, yes, I have exactly the same problem.
I've spent over 6 hours researching the issue; I've done everything!
Installed and repaired the Quest Link PC program.
Updated ALL my drivers!
Disabled my processor's graphics card because I thought Quest Link didn't know which GPU to use.
I tried all the USB-C ports on my tower.
Last night, no luck. I managed to get a green USB test in Quest Link, and I was then able to do several laps of the circuit in VR.
I rebooted the PC afterward, and it became impossible to connect via Link again.
IT'S CLEARLY V76 THAT'S CAUSING THE PROBLEM WITH LINK WITH THE CABLE.
I had no problems with V72.

Same issue for me. Worked fine last week - now with the just updated v76 link is broken. Official Oculus link cable. Tried several ports and desktop & laptop. Both were updated to v76 and both with broken link cable. Endless three dots in Q3 device.

Only way to have PCvr now is using Virtual Desktop.

Win11, RTX 4090, Quest3. Win 11 & all drivers up to date

There was an update to link this morning and now it works again as usual - desktop Link is now on 76.0.0.452.315
Edit: too bad that fix isn't stable. After a few hours, problem is back again and have to use the virtual desktop-solution again

Yep my Quest 2 is completely fscked now too after this update. I didn't even want to update, knowing it will probably break it!! But somehow it forced itself to update and now it no longer works. Takes ages to even open the app now, where it was basically instant before. I run a 14900k and rtx4090 so its no slouch. Why can we not have a simple restore to previous version, or whatever. It was fine how it was.

I'm using a 'fix' now I read somewhere on Reddit;

- start windows

- go to services, stop the Oculus VR runtime service. Wait a few seconds, start the Oculus VR runtime service.

- in your headset enable Link

- start your VR app on your desktop

So far it seems to work, sometimes if I put off the headset and pick it up after a while, I have to redo the steps above.

Edit:

This solution didn't work when I took the headset to someone else until I added their wifi network to both the headset as well as to the laptop. Without adding them, another Meta logo would just spin forever and rebooting, stopping and starting the service wouldn't fix that.

I can give you another one to try…. Because the app is taking forever to load, and the link won’t connect, I found if I just go in task manager and terminate every single meta quest app and service, then reload the app, and it will instantly load, but also pop a window to repair the app… it’s fine to let it do that, and then the link worked, even though the app was complaining that it can’t find my headset or the link service.
