Considering the next kinect is going to be so accurate that it will be able to read lips and track all ten fingers and even be able to tell your heart rate. I think they should focus on that. Then they can get your entire body into the game and perfectly track your every moment. Imagine reaching out with your hand and just grabbing something instead of holding the hydra or just jumping when you want to jump in the game. I think the kinect 2 should be the main focus for body interactions within a game.

It is pretty advanced, but I think you are overselling it. From what I've seen it can track wrist motion but not your individual fingers. Not ruling out that could patch it to do even that, but I don't think the hardware is capable of reading your fingers if you are sitting back on the couch.

I do think your head and hands need to be tracked against each other, or things go out of whack. In my recent testing, I put one Hydra wand and one in my hand, and the hand did seem to be mapped 1:1 to where I expected it to be. I have a video here if you're curious: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ko5OdLE2Msw

Even the first kinect can track individual fingers with the right programming: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlLschoMhuE&feature=player_embedded
