Controller moves around when viewed through headset. but if you pull the trigger, grip , thumbstick, a, b, or meta button. they don't work, or move like there even getting a signal when viewed through headset. Left hand is fine.  Charged every thing up, left batteries out over night, paired controllers through app. tried factory reset but cant continue since it wants me to press the meta button on the right controller and it wont do it

Hey everyone! Losing access to the various input methods on your controllers can definitely make for a difficult experience, so we'd love to help out! If your controller isn't registering any proper inputs, be sure to double check for any status lights on the controller to make sure it's receiving power. If the controller is receiving power, we recommend trying out a controller factory reset, which is a bit different from a traditional headset factory reset. A controller factory reset resets the controller firmware itself.

To perform a factory reset on the Quest 3 controllers:

1. Use the correct button combination to start the factory reset process.

  • Right: Hold the A button and tap the Home (Meta logo) button 5 times.
  • Left: Hold the X button and tap the Menu button 5 times.

2. The LED will blink orange/white while the factory reset is being performed.

3. The LED will then change to light-blue during boot.

4. Controllers can be used again as normal once boot completes.

If you're stuck on the "pull tab from controller" screen after the reset, try waiting on the screen for 5 minutes. This should advance to the controller pairing screen where you should be able to finish pairing the controllers.

Hopefully that does the trick, but if not, feel free to reach out to us in a PM! We'd be more than happy to continue helping out there!

My left controller has stopped working. I've changed batteries, i tried to factory reset the controller but there is no life at all. I've re-started the headset numerous times but no change. The right hand controller seems to be working correctly. Is there anything else I can try (other than a factory reset)? it does seem more likely to be a hardware issue to me.

My controller isn't working and trying the reset doesn't work

Hi,

Left controller stopped working. The white light keeps blinking but the controller doesn't register in the headset. I tried factory reset of the left controller, and also factory reset of both controllers. None of that worled.

Eventually, I followed your instructions to factory reset the headset. Now the headset is stuck on the very first welcome screen where it asks to pull the battery tab out of the left controller. The left controller has new battery and it keeps blinking but headset doesn't recognize it.

Hey @alecchalky! Thank you for sharing this with us and bringing this to our attention! We are sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with your Quest 3 controller, we know how much of a detriment this can put on your gameplay experience. It is very much appreciated that you listed out the troubleshooting steps you have already attempted. We would be more than happy to help you out with this and ensure all troubleshooting is exhausted! For clarification, we do have a few questions so that we may best assist you:

  • When was the last time your controller worked successfully?
  • Was the controller ever accidentally dropped?
  • Does the LED indicator light on the controller turn on at all?

We eagerly await your response and to work to a resolution together!
