I'm trying to map voice attack to the xbox controller and touch controls.. so that people with accessibility issues can all still get into VR... but it would also be cool for the rest of us to be able to give voice commands to say "turn left" or "turn right" instead of using the analogue stick for example...
We could even maybe make steamvr exclusives playable on the rift by mapping voice commands to the input mappings that don't work on the touch for some games.
I'm having a lot of issues though.
This is much tougher than I expected since voice attack only lets you map commands to the keyboard..
Some more problems:
1. I can only find an xbox controller emulator for xbox 360 controllers not xbox one.
2. I don't even know where to begin with the touch controls.. I did find some developer information on the button mapping though. https://developer.oculus.com/…/la…/concepts/unity-ovrinput/…
Now, why isn't this just natively supported in Oculus itself?
We have voice control...
Why not have all of the xbox/touch controller buttons and gestures all mapped out to voice commands as well instead of having to try these painful workarounds?
Like being able to say "Hold grab button" or "Hold grip button" when picking up an object and "Release grip button" to drop it again as a small example... and of course voice commands for all of the other buttons and other thoughtful things like "walk forward" and "stop walking" along with snap turning voice commands so that you don't even need the analogue sticks.
That one grip button alone would solve my hand issues playing games..
Seems like the technology is there to implement this but it's not being used to it's full potential.
