Adding PVR Thumbnails to Gear VR Library

I am loading my own content into the 360° Videos folder of the Gear VR. The existing content (Iceland etc) have Thumbnails in the menu. At the moment my content just have blue boxes. Does anyone know how to upload Thumbnails so that my content can have pictures as well?

Try saving the image file you want as the thumbnail into the same folder as your 360 video content - then rename the image file extension as .pvr. In theory this should work but haven't had a chance to try it myself yet. UPDATE : forgot to mention the image file name must also be exactly same as the 360 video file name but again one difference - the image file must have the extension as .pvr

Sadly this doesn't work.

Perhaps the software in this other forum thread could help, note though that I don't know if it works and can't vouch for this software as it's not mine so download at your own risk.

Have you tried putting .png files in the folder (with the same name as the video).

So if your video was "avatar.mp4" you put the thumbnail as "avatar.png".

And how did you do that Please?
It would be nice if you could share your success and work flow.

I just think this is crazy having to look around everywhere just to get a thumbnail . Shame you Oculus and for many other things I am discovering about GearVR and scratching my head as to why Oculus are making things that are usually easy, very, very complicated. I thought they want to encourage the general public to use VR.

Ok, figured it out for myself.
It is easy, just install the TextTool from the link about, start it, load a png into it and save as pvr.
Name the pvr picture as the video aand put them both into 360Video. Works fine. but why have they done this shit.

This doesn't seem to be working for me. Cannot get a PVR to show up. Anyone have any tips for this?

video thumbnails are in the folder This PC\Quest\Internal shared storage\DCIM\.thumbnails you just have to put any .jpg with the correct file name , put the video in your quest, navigate with gellery app to generate first thumbnail , and then replace the file , you can order by creation date , mine was called 1575543038365.jpg
