So I have a friend who is handicapped, sits in a wheelchair, is paraplegic and can barely raise his arms above chest hight. I showed him a great variaty of Apps and Experiences on the Gear VR, with the power of MirrorOp I streamed it to my iPad, so I can see what he sees.
The downside was that I constantly needed to click and touch for him, since he wasn't able to do that all by himself. :?
There was ONE App that worked perfectly though: vTime.
Having an UI that works only by glancing at the menus is perfect. Not only for him, I should add.
Suggestion to Oculus: To have an option in the homescreen or maybe a "settings"-menu, on which every user can choose, if he/she wants to tap or to glance (activated after 3sec or 6sec).
And while we are at it (and I realise that it's a huge one but one can try...): Make it mandatory for developers! At least the UI. There are so many Apps, like Oculus Video, Social, Photos, MilkVR etc. where it should be no problem at all to implement glance-activation with a few lines of code, IMO.
Think about it, please! 😐
