Connecting a TV to the Samsung Gear VR

I am keen to connect the Galaxy Note 4 wirelessly to a TV so people who aren't wearing the headset can still see what's going on. This will be useful in presentation situations. I bought the Allshare dongle but it cant handle it.
Anyone managed to solve this little problem?

It works ok-ish with a Google Chromecast .. you enable 'screen casting' since the app itself (oculus home) has no native support for chromecast. So you cast the entire screen and then start Oculus home. I would love to use this feature, but it has an impact on performance and generates even more heat than normal use .. The performance impact being the biggest issue .. I don't want anyone trying it out to get a less than optimal experience.

You can mirror just fine with the Amazon Fire Stick as well.

With just fine you mean high motion judder within Gear VR? Atleast that was the case with the Fire TV and i doubt that the less expensive Fire stick is better, but i could be wrong?

Agreed. The Allshare works OK, but the users experience is severely compromised. I tried it using the Kolor Eyes app and that works fine. It seems to be just when in the Oculus Rift app that it struggles.

What about the opposite? Has anyone figured out a way to share content from a Samsung smart tv to the device?
Say, for instance, I was sitting here playing Assassin's Creed on my XBOX1, and it occurred to me to try syncing the oculus with the TV and playing that way.

I think your best bet is the new facebook live streaming available under the profile in the root menu in gear vr. However, every app can apparently turn this off. So let developers know you want your favorite app to support the new streaming option.

I have no idea why oculus wont add a local streaming option when they have over facebook, seems silly.

Just make sure the option of "Simulate secondary displays" is on (select a low resolution) and that you see the device screen in the small rectangle that opens.
If you don't see the device screen in the rectangle, stretch it with your fingers(like zoom-in in google maps)
