Consumer vr for edge

What are your guys thoughts on what phone to get next month in time for the consumer edition? I know space wise, it may present a concern with no SD. I'm currently trying out the edge s6 plus in gold 32gb (only 32gb offered in gold and find it way wayyy sexier). Will space be a problem? I haven't heard too much on the subject, thanks!

Good question. I'm curious how the consumer GearVR will handle different phone sizes. Because the lenses won't change, a bigger screen size will give you a lower resolution in pixels per degree. That's not an advantage, especially with the edge version that "wastes" some of its pixels for... the edge. But can the consumer GearVR at least utilize the bigger screen to give you a bigger field of view?

Best,
Claus

I'd just love some news on it, if it's coming out next month, I hope for some advertising at least. 11 more days I can return my phone :?

32GB is on the small size. 360 videos take up a lot of space if you download them. Some games/expereinces are also large.
And of course if you want to watch any movies of your own download to the device.
I have 128GB and have had to clear items off.

I have the 32GB S6.

Image looks wonderful (compared to the DKs).

Space - i'd go for the 64GB. Yes i've put a couple of films on here, yes i've had to take them off - i struggle for space.

With Netflix and i'm sure Plex will come along (or something similar), 64GB should be ok.

If cost isn't an option, of course, go bigger.
Big PC, all the headsets, now using Quest 3

The FOV will be bigger on the Note 5/S6edge+ and smaller on the S6/s6edge, but the image will be a little bit more dense on the later.

Not sure if the Edge also influences the FOV a bit.

If you go with the 32GB option, it can be done but be prepared that you will have to juggle a lot of files and deinstall/reinstall alot of apps/games as you will constantly look for available storage, especially if you would use the phone also as your daily driver.

Is there no gold version in 64GB available aswell?

Do you have more informationen about this?
I think the FOV is limited by lenses and display distance. We have to check how they manage the different screensize.

I have some "newbie" questions about buying a used/refurbished phone for the consumer GearVR (figured it would work here - I can't post a new topic for some reason):

1) Does the SCREEN of the phone itself matter (i.e. if the screen is scratched is that bad ?) .... or does the GearVR literally only use the inner hardware so it's OK if the phone screen is cheap/cracked ??

2) I don't need an actual phone for talking so i'd just be using it for the GearVR ... does the phone have to be "unlocked" ... or will literally any note5/S6/S6 edge phone work so long as it powers on?

3) If I buy a used phone, do I still need to initially set it up on my laptop ?? or can I literally just connect to WIFI, attach to the GearVR, and get going ??

Thanks ! 😄
