Perhaps there is a thread or location already for this, if so could someone point to it.
If not, the question is.
Assuming all we have at the moment is DK2, and Samsung Gear is releasing reasonably soon, is there an expectation that people can dev for it and be ready for its release? Or will devs have to buy it and then modify and release their apps.
If so, is there a way to emulate the samsung gear hardware on dk2? I.e. disable features that are not present, and throttle GPU power etc to match the gear VR to get approximation of its capibilitis.
Im interested to know who id intentionally devving for it now, and how.
I assume Samsung/Oculus want the gear VR to hit the shelves with usable content?
Apparently the Mobile SDK will be released by Oculus at the end of this month. The Gear VR release is rumored for December, so there should be a little bit of time to get a head start! I'm not sure if the DK2 can be used with the Mobile SDK though...
There will be a public mobile SDK at some point, I don't have an exact date at the moment.
There isn't any emulation currently, so you will need the actual hardware to test on. That said, you can get started on a game just using (for example) Unity on the PC, and then later port it to mobile when the hardware and SDK are available.
