Distorted sound makes games unplayable - S7 Edge

I've tried playing ESPER2 and Gunjack, but the sound is so bad that both are unplayable.  I hear pops, chirps, and what reminds me of what music from a dirty CD sounds like. No Issues with Netflix or Milk VR.  Seems to be happening only on games so far.

I've already tried reinstalling the oculus software and games, and there are no other apps running.  Anyone run into this and fixed it?

is it a enyos or snapdragon that you have..s7?

also try closing all other apps in case it makes a difference ..

Galaxy S7 Edge, running Android 6.0.1.  All other apps are already closed.  Starting from a fresh reboot of the phone has ZERO effect on the sound quality.  Reinstalling the software had no effect, either.
