Gear VR S6

So I have just pre ordered the S6 Edge 128gb for delivery on April 10th.
I went through this get the device before the VR comes out with the note 4 and boy was that a mission. Firs the mobilefun and mobilezap pre orders for the VR that started in september still have not been shipped out. Ended up getting a couple from USA and couple ion Australia.

I am wondering if anyone knows when the Gear VR s6 is due out and what the model number will be for the device?

I am really looking forward to the minor improvements with the air ventis that are cut out.

On the VR they have the air vents cut out in the rubber around the edges, but then they put foam over the cut outs which defeats the purpose. So I cut out the holes in the foam to match the rubber air vents on the top and it eliminated all fogging issues but it will be nicce to see this already done.

I am wondering is the size of the screeen will make any difference and if anyone knows the difference in field of view??

I'm really looking forward to this second one on offer and of course looking forward even mroe tot he Note 5 version. This is going to be a very expensive couple of years with the upgrading but thankfully my phone provider allows us to lose our phones and pay $180 for replacements, meaning we have a few VR set ups, just cant make calls on them all 🙂

I preordered the Galaxy S6 Edge 128GB version as well and cant wait till they announce the release date for the S6 edge Gear VR. Looking forward to seeing the improved picture quality (11% i think is what they said onstage) due to higher PPI. Very excited to enter in VR jam Gear VR, have some cool ideas, hoping a input solution soon will be unveiled. Its a great time to be a VR developer, thank you Oculus!! 🙂

Surely the new USB input for the charging at same time as watching the VR will be able to be used as many other things?

The problem with the S6 is that you can not put a SD card in it. Though this suggests to me that they are going to focus on Cloud storage for the VR apps and films and streaming etc, which would be good i suppoose.

At the moment the worst part is always taking out the sd card and loading it up with films and then deleting stuff already watched etc. Cloud would get rid of that but with the new S6 32gb it only comes with 24gb available space after the bloatware so you really do not have a lot of room for high quality stuff, so you have to go for the $1500 128gb S6. But even then it is limited.

So until some sort cloud service comes, I imagine that you the USB input on top of the S6VR will mean that you can also plug in external storage devices, though it will suck having the leads and the weight of the external hard drive, but i guess you could plug in a usb thumbdrive.

That USB input though, surely people will come up with loads of things that it could be used for.

Thats a thread on its own id say

I never take the SD card out, just connect the Note 4 via USB cable to the PC to transfer files.

Higher pixel density and FOV is the same.

Thanks. This would mean they are different lenses?

I heard the FOV is smaller .. which would make sense.
same FOV with the same amount of pixels, but higher ppi does not make sense to me. so if the claims are true that there is less SDE, it must mean the FOV is smaller.

Isnt the pixel density higher because its the same amount of pixels on a smaller display? :?:
Wouldnt that mean, it just has to be magnified more and by this ends up with the same SD as the Note 4?

Samsung is saying it's the same FOV. I think the only reason people keep hearing it's smaller is from people speculating in comments sections.

To be honest I am so disappointed by the new Samsung idea to take rid of of their two main advantages over the iPhone which were the Micro SD Card port and the removable battery that I might now consider to stay with my Note 4 and to move to another brand in the future...

SD card is critical even more with the VR. Guys saying that they will transfer files over the USB port are kidding and I wish them the best if they want to watch 3D movies when each of them are about 12GB average...

Samsung already removed the USB3 port we had on the Note 3... this is worst and worst.

I am more than surprised by the direction they are choosing, big mistake I think!!!
