Gear VR Samsung Edge + Problem

I just got my consumer Edition of the VR Gear but when connecting it to my edge + nothing happens , no sound nothing at all I tried my neighbours mobile too the same also S6 edge plus.

Maybe I missing a firmware update but my mobile tells me the last one is installed


I live in Luxembourg , can I install manually the update ? or what could I do ?

Same thing happening to me. I got the SM-G928G variant of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+. Connected it to the Gear VR but nothing happens. No Oculus app installed, no sound when connected. But if I touch the Gear VR touchpad a cursor is shown on the screen of the Edge+. I even did a Factory Reset but still no luck.

I have just the same problem with the edge +!
I thought it was a faulty production gear vr so I bought a second one to try it out.
well it still doesn't do anything :?
I hope they can fixe this bug asap or a solution...
I am using the gear vr as a cardboard at the moment :shock:
I live in belgium and have model number SM-G928F

I tested the same gear vr with a normal s6 edge and it works instant.
so the problem is really the edge+ probably software related?

Yes you probably dont have the Gear VR compatible software installed yet which should be pushed from a carrier when the Gear VR launches in that country.

Yes, there are required updates that come through the carrier. I'm not sure the updates have went out to every country so, depending on your region, you may have to wait a bit.

Also keep in mind that you may need active cell service to receive the update. So if you bought an unlocked phone and are just using it on WiFi or in an unsupported region, it may not work.

Can you guys please confirm what region you are in and what carrier you are using?

Yeah I got the update this morning to.
works perfect know! looks great! 😄
but it would be greater if you could pay in the oculus store with prepaid cards instead of only a credit card, maybe something for in the future 😉
