Gear VR versus Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus

I had a S7 that died.   Purchased a new S8 Plus.  It will not begin the download of the VR software.
The Gear VR app is a permanent part of the Samsung OS and cannot be deleted.

The S7 worked perfectly.   

Anyone know how to force the download?

Afaik oculus won't auto download apps that are not installed. Go into the library and reinstall
