How to enable developer mode on S6 Edge

guodongrong

I have a Galaxy S6 Edge, and would like to enable the developer mode. However, when I go to "Settings -> Application manager -> Gear VR Service", the "manage storage" button is gray and not clickable.

Any idea on how to enable developer mode on my phone?

I keep getting the same thing, it's telling me I'm not a developer, so annoying. Not sure how to fix this.

Having to build and install an application with an osig is a ridiculous requirement for turning on developer mode, especially considering that many of the people who do this are just trying to enable global low persistence for Cardboard apps. This isn't a self destruct button, why do we have to jump through so many hoops? Why should it be more difficult than turning on developer mode for the OS itself?

I got the "You are not a developer" message to go away by updating the Gear VR service, which was done when I installed the Oculus app

Install "SideloadVR" (https://play.google.com/store/search?q=SideloadVR&c=apps).
Download and install any application from the "SideloadVR", and developer mode will work.

I am having this same issue with a Samsung Galaxy S7. All other devices I have are able to activate Gear VR developer mode correctly but not this one. Any clues?

Ok, here is an update: I have installed my APK and tried to execute it (with the corresponding message that I need to insert my device in to the Gear VR) and then I was able to activate Gear VR Service. Hope it helps/works for other developers out there.

Solved this problem for me (S7 Edge):
Turned out the sig-file I used had a wrong letter in it (so wrong device id). Must've been my mistake.
Got the sig-file again from https://developer.oculus.com/osig/ and placed it into myAppNameblabla/assets/ which is just the template app i made by following https://developer.oculus.com/documentation/mobilesdk/latest/concepts/mobile-new-apps-intro/
