I need to buy a new phone, which one?

I need to renew my mobile phone now, but I want Gear VR (consumer version) when it's out, so I want to future-proof me.

I know Gear VR will work with a variety of Samsung phones, but I wonder which one is the best.

Also, I know that for the innovator edition not all Note 4 phones worked for the GearVR, only N-American edition that contained a specific type of CPU? Do I need to worry about this? I'm in Europe!

Nope any S6, S6edge, Note 5 or S6edge+ will do.

If you want to use the consumer Gear VR, I would recommend a 2015 model Samsung Phone. The Note 4 had some problems with different GPUs and OS versions, so the S6/Note5 will be a smoother experience overall.

Independently of price, which one would you recomend S6 or Note5?

Any noticiable difference?

Given that the Note 5 isn't sold in Europe, my only choice is S6.

Note 5 because of the bigger FOV, 4GB RAM instead of 3GB, better battery life and better heat dissipation.

There are some vendors which also sell the Note 5 in europe but for a higher price tho.
But there is still the S6edge+ option, which has similar advantages as the Note 5 like the bigger FOV.

You won't be disappointed with the image EarlGrey. You might be with the FOV though - it's noticeable, but you've been around a while now and to see such polished content and to see it so clearly is wonderful.

Shame we can't get the Note 5 - reports suggest it doesn't have the overheating problems (not had them myself though).

I'm using the S6 Innovator.
Big PC, all the headsets, now using Quest 3

The best options:
1: Note 5 or Edge+ (FOVE=More SDE=More)
2: Edge (FOVE=Less SDE=Less)

Well I prefer larger FOV over pixel density.
