Is there supposed to be lens cover?

In the manual it says to remove lens covers but I don't see any and can't discern a sticker on them.

Is there?

I didn't have one. I was just looking for it a few minutes ago.

The Gear VR definitely used to ship with protectors on the lenses. I'm not 100% sure if they still do this with the latest model. I wouldn't really worry about it as long as everything appears in good condition, but if you are concerned feel free to reach out to Samsung support. Thanks.

No, there are no protectors on the 2017 version of Gear VR. Because poeple forgot to remove them on earlier model and complained about bad image quality (lol)

Don't try to scratch lenses 😉

Protege
Enable developer mode and turn on secondary display (720p secure) then install Google Home and Cast screen to your Chromecast, then put the phone in the Gear VR and proceed as per normal.

Weird. Unpacking, and feeling around the lenses to remove the coverings, as instructed, makes a crackling sound like thin plastic. Apparently though, there are no coverings. Hope I didn't scratch up my brand new headset lenses just trying to follow the instructions. Sheesh. 🙂
