Oculus Video + Galaxy S7 SD Card Issues (One thread)

So, yet another thread on this topic but I, probably like many others would just like a single point of reference as we know people don't always use the search 😉

What we know so far...

1. There IS a known Issue and Oculus have already pushed out an update to try and fix this. For those of you still
posting that it doesn't work even after the update and tried all of the folder names/combinations suggested then see 2. below for more info...

2. The "fix" for this issue only seems to work on some S7 devices. Oculus replied in this Reddit with an explanation https://www.reddit.com/r/GearVR/comments/4apv4c/oculus_video_update_now/ but have gone
radio silent since then.

3. John Carmack (Oculus CTO) IS aware of the ongoing issues https://twitter.com/ID_AA_Carmack/status/711275525805715456 - so there's a chance he can move things along, but clearly that particular dev team are struggling and he hasn't updated on progress since.

4. MilkVR DOES play video content from the SD card. So the explanation given by Oculus in 2. above, seems a bit odd. However it is with them to fix, so if anyone here has any updates please post here 🙂

(For example from John Carmack's Twitter, if you follow that, or from other sources)

@Mods, given the number of people posting in the other threads that "it doesn't work for me" even though we have the information I summarized above, any chance we could have a tidy up? 🙂

I tried new DEOVR video player with videos from SD card, works good without any problems.
