Watch a live stream while using Gear VR?

I'm trying to find some way to stream video from a phone, and view the live stream using a Gear VR.

My ultimate goal is kind of boring, but would be immensely helpful to myself and others who play as goalies or keepers. I want to put on the goggles, and then use another phone, placed at the height of a hockey puck to stream the view of how much net I'm blocking from any given location on the ice. This way I can make adjustments to my position in real time.

Any video chat app would work, and I don't need to share any video from the phone in the Gear VR. I've tried doing a Facebook Live stream, but it doesn't show up when looking at Facebook in the Gear VR. I understand you can watch Twitch live, but I don't think you can just stream onto Twitch from a phone's camera, and I'd prefer if it wasn't a public broadcast anyway. I also thought of Youtube, but found out you need 1000 followers before you can live stream from a phone. Any other ideas that may be viewable from inside a Gear VR?

Any ideas? All my searches assume my parameters are reversed, giving me solutions on how to stream what I see in the Gear VR to other sources such as PCs, TVs, Facebook, etc. I

Just use any old web video streaming solution (even something like IP Webcam) and then view the stream inside the default gear vr internet browser

Oh, another thought, you can use the Gear 360 camera to Livestream directly to the Gear VR via wifi direct. Just open the camera live view in the Gear 360 app, then click on View in Gear VR.

I currently have an S7 & S8+, but the S7 will be going away. The 8+ is what I will be streaming TO in the Gear VR. Ideally, I'll just be able to use anybody's phone to capture the livestream video. Size/FPS are unimportant to me. No need for high def, but lag is definitely a factor. Currently I'm not sure if I will have access to a good wifi connection, and may have to settle with streaming over 4G.

@ enkayz, I thought about your ideas more. The gear 360 app would have been great, but on the original gear 360 there is no option to livestream, even in preview mode. As soon as I put the phone in the Gear VR, I lose the ability to see the live stream preview. (If it's there, I can't find it. I can see previously taken videos/pics, but that doesn't work when shooting for immediate feedback.)

I finally tracked down a couple other possible soutions. VRidge, RiftCat, Trinus & Intugame VR all have possible options, but rely on a laptop/PC in addition to the phones. I saw someone skype themselves using one of those apps, which is a step in the right direction.

I ended up going with TwitCasting, creating an account to stream on one phone, and then watching the live feed in Gear VR's Internet app. The lag is about 10 seconds, so it'll be "strike a pose" and wait 10 seconds to see how it looks, but it's better than nothing... I'd love to see something more direct with less lag, and it may be that I simply need to pony up for the new Gear VR, or possibly see if I can use Google Hangouts or Skype in Gear VR's Internet, without it wanting to push the phone to the app.

Thanks for the feedback so far! Sorry it took me a bit to get back to you. My notifications go to an old email that I don't check, and apparently you can't update/change email accounts on Oculus.... =/

No worries, I may have misunderstood your original requirement. Did you want to live-stream a 360/180 video and watch it live in the Gear VR headset, or did you just want to watch a normal flat 2d video? If you're looking to do flat video, as I mentioned you could use an app called 'IP Webcam' with a wifi-direct connection between the two phones.

Establish the wifi-direct network between the two phones, then start the IP Webcam app on the watching phone, click on 'Start Stream' and then it will give you a URL that can be accessed for the video stream.

Then on the Gear VR phone, either go into the Oculus Home internet browser and use the flash viewer via the http site, or get the streaming video link from the IP Webcam page and create an MLVR file for the webcam stream address and use MilkVR's Sideloaded section to initiate the live stream viewing.

Enkayz,
i don't see a "View in the Gear VR" option when i turn on Live View. Are you talking about the 2nd Gen Dear 360 camera? I have the 1st Gen using a S7e.
