Will the consumer gear VR work with S6?

Hi

I tried the Gear VR for the S6 and it far exceeded my expectations. Now I am waiting for the consumer version. Do you think the consumer version of the Gear VR will also work with the S6?
It would seem strange if it doesn't because the Note 5 probably doesn't come with a 4K screen and a lot of S6's have already been sold.

Very unlikely. Samsung has now made 2 Gear VR for specific phone models. The note and S phones are different sizes.
Ideally Samsung would make Gear VR adjustable to accommodate future phones but I suspect they won't as they're trying to sell more phones and Gear VR systems.

It's more likely to work with the Note 4 for size reasons.

Original Samsung Gear VR is for Note 4, but this new version for the GS6 is a big step forward. Samsung Gear VR Innovator Edition for S6 is powered by the Samsung Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 edge and is not compatible with other smartphones or devices.

I've got the S6 version. Will it always be specific to S6 or is it possible that they future flagship phones will work with it? I don't see myself buying a new one of these every 2 years so I hope Samsung doesn't plan on making each version work only with one phone.

I doubt the S6 will work with the consumer version, as someone else said if there was any compatibility it would be with the Note 4 due to size. The gear vr for the note 4 & s6 were "innovator editions", so we were supposed to know they probably wouldn't work with the consumer version. While the note 5 doesn't have a 4k screen, which means I probably won't get one, it may have some new sensors or screen technology that will only work with the consumer gear vr, then there is the difference in size issue too, for now anyway.
